PlayStation TV Price Cut Across US Retailers
PlayStation TV Price Cut Across US Retailers-November 2024
Nov 28, 2024 7:51 PM

[UPDATE] A PlayStation representative told GameSpot today that "these price drops are indeed retailer specific," and do not represent an official price cut for PlayStation TV.

  The original story is below.

The official price point for PlayStation TV, Sony's newly launched microconsole, is $100 for the base package and $140 for a controller bundle, but many North American retailers are selling them for less.

We were tipped off by a reader that numerous retailers, including Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and GameStop, are selling the base package for $80 and the controller and game bundle for $100.

GameStop, Amazon, and Best Buy list the new, lower price points as non-sale offers, suggesting $80 and $100 may be the new official list prices.

However, Sony has not announced an official PlayStation TV price drop yet, and the company's official retail store still lists the bundles for $100 and $140, respectively. We have reached out to Sony for further comment, and will update this post with anything we hear back.

PS TV launched in Japan in 2013, before coming to the West a year later. The microconsole can play many PlayStation Vita games in addition to digital PlayStation One and PSP games. Through Remote Play, PS TV can be used to stream PlayStation 4 games from one PS4 console in your home onto a separate television that the PS TV is connected to.

In addition, PS TV just recently added support for Sony's game-streaming service, PlayStation Now.
