PlayStation President Says PlayStation Now Will be Pushed Hard This Year and In Years to Come-September 2024
Sep 23, 2024 5:23 AM

Freshly appointed PlayStation CEO and President Jim Ryan has said Sony’s gaming streaming service, PlayStation Now, will be pushed hard this year and in the future.

In a recent interview with the Financial Times, the chief executive of Sony Interactive Entertainment talked about the future of the PlayStation streaming service which launched five years ago.

“We obviously have seen the trend in other forms of entertainment towards the mass adoption of streaming as a means of accessing content,” he said. “It would seem likely, very likely, that gaming will follow that trend.”

With Google launching its own game streaming service, Google Stadia, later this year, Sony is keen to improve its own streaming service, and the recently announced partnership between the company and Microsoft will surely help with that.

“We are getting more confident with the [PlayStation Now] service and we are really going to start to push it hard this year and in years to follow,” the PlayStation boss said.

Sony launched its PlayStation Now streaming service in the US back in 2015, and the service became available in beta for various European countries in March of 2015. PS Now is available now in in Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland, United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Norway, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden.
