PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Rushes Past 7 Million Copies, 617K Concurrent Players-October 2024
Oct 22, 2024 6:26 AM

The success of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is surpassing everyone's wildest expectations, probably including the developers'.

According to SteamSpy, the game is now owned by over 7 million users and yesterday it registered 617K concurrent users playing the game. These are some seriously impressive results.

With the price currently at $29.99, Bluehole made over $209 million since the April launch on Steam Early Access. There's more because according to GamoLoco, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds even managed to beat League of Legends in terms of Twitch hours watched this week, only surrendering to Valve's Dota 2.

Battlegrounds will soon get improvements such as vaulting animations, which will be introduced to the game in a future update.

The game is due to launch on Microsoft's Xbox One Game Preview program before the end of the year, though it may not have cross-platform play with PC - the developers are still evaluating that possibility. The game should also launch on PlayStation 4, though probably only once the Xbox One version moves past the Game Preview phase.

Brandon Greene, the titular PlayerUnknown, also recently said that Bluehole plans to support the game for ten years or so. Given these sales results, they'd be crazy not to, honestly.
