Earlier this week, we brought you the news that PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds was coming to mobile devices courtesy of Chinese mega publisher Tencent, but it turns out that was only half the story. Tencent have revealed they actually have two separate PUBG mobile titles in the works. Scroll on down for teaser trailers and details for both games.
The first game, subtitled Army Attack, seems to be a more arcade-flavored take on PUBG. The trailer amps up the action, ladling on the explosions, motorcycle stunts, and naval combat. Yup, in this version of PUBG, you’re not longer restricted to the island – you can now take to the seas in a variety of different gun-laden boats. Hell, we even get a glimpse of a battleship. Word is, PUBG Mobile: Army Attack is being developed by Timi Studio, the developer behind the hugely-popular Honor of Kings.

The second game, PUBG Mobile: Battlefield, looks to deliver a more traditional battle royale experience. This game is being developed by Tencent’s Lightspeed & Quantum Studio.
While everybody’s sure to have their own opinions about Tencent’s handling of PUBG, there’s no denying these are fairly impressive-looking mobile titles. Flappy Bird, these games aren’t. According to industry analyst Daniel Ahmad, both games are being built using Unreal Engine 4.
No word yet on when either Army Attack or Battlefield will launch. Tencent has said both games will arrive first in China, but you have to imagine they’ll come to the rest of the world eventually. What do you think? Excited to play PUBG on your phone or tablet? I have to admit, I’m kind of morbidly curious about Army Attack. Can you win the game just by getting in your boat and sailing home?
Meanwhile, the original PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is scheduled to hit Xbox One on December 12 and launch its full 1.0 version on PC later in the month.
