The long-awaited closed beta for the PlayStation 4 version of Sony Online Entertainment's MMOFPS Planetside 2 will begin on January 20, the developer announced today on the PlayStation Blog.
Sony originally targeted the beta to launch in 2014, but it was later delayed. The developer now says it's spent the extra time "refining, optimizing, and creating an amazing console version."
As you might expect, Sony says the Planetside 2 PS4 beta will help the developer test its servers, performance, and various other aspects of the title. The studio is also hoping testers will share their thoughts through special beta forums they'll have access to.
"We want the massive battles to make your heart pound and adrenaline pump, so share your thoughts with us," Sony says.
You can sign up for a chance to play the Planetside 2 PS4 beta today through the game's website, though Sony says players will be invited in chronological order based on when they signed up. On January 20, Sony will invite "a few thousand" players into the beta, while additional waves will scale up from there.
The full version of Planetside 2 for PS4 will launch later in 2015. For more on the Planetside 2 PS4 beta, check out this detailed FAQ.
