Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Announces a Launch Date and Pre-Order Bonuses-November 2024
Nov 26, 2024 1:46 AM

Avast yet hearties, Obsidian has cracked open their treasure chest and revealed the release date and pre-order incentives for their upcoming seafaring RPG, Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire. Everybody who pre-orders the game will get the following digital goodies:

St. Drogga's Skull – Crafted from a sabre and the skull of a martyr, it will slash and burn enemies in combat, while also guiding players through the darkest reaches of the Deadfire.Beakhead, the Hawk (In-Game Pet): Beakhead, the white hawk, took a liking to your ship soon after you arrived in the Deadfire. Captains in the Deadfire are only as effective as their crew, and with this jaunty first-mate by your side, you're bound to find success at sea.The Black Flag: This flag is said to have been flown by a mysterious and rowdy band of seadogs from a far-off land, who dyed their sails black with a stain made from ground-up dragon glass. Dark and intimidating, but somehow attractive, nonetheless.Meanwhile, those who pick up the Pillars of Eternity II Deluxe Edition will also get the game’s soundtrack, an in-game pet and special item, a digital pen-and-paper RPG starter guide, a high-resolution game map, and a digital guidebook. There’s also the Obsidian Edition, which includes all the swag from the Deluxe Edition as well as three DLC expansions. The base version of Pillars of Eternity II costs $50, the Deluxe Edition is $60, and the Obsidian Edition is $75.

Physical versions of the Standard and Obsidian Editions of Pillars of Eternity II will also be released by THQ Nordic. The physical version of the Obsidian Edition will include all the digital booty, as well as a cloth map, explorer’s notepad, and a series of postcards for $80.

Like its predecessor, Pillars of Eternity: Deadfire was a major crowdfunding success, raising over $4.4 million on Fig. Here’s how Obsidian describes the RPG:

“In Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, players embark on a dangerous voyage of discovery as they hunt down a god to save their own souls. Building on the award-winning gameplay of the first Pillars of Eternity, every aspect of Deadfire has been improved and expanded.

Vastly more detailed graphics, deeper game mechanics, increased player choice and reactivity, a new companion relationship system, streamlined combat, and an entirely new, handcrafted adventure make Deadfire the ultimate RPG experience. Players travel the far-flung region of the titular Deadfire Archipelago by ship, where they will discover new races, visit exotic islands, defend their ships against pirates, and, most importantly, choose their allies carefully, as there are powerful factions to encounter at nearly every port.”

Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire hits PC (Window, Mac, and Linux) on April 3.
