Last year, Nintendo finally announced Pikmin 4 after years of rumors and waiting (we first heard the game existed all the way back in 2015!) Thankfully, we won’t have to wait too much longer to actually get our hands on the game, as during today’s Nintendo Direct it was revealed Pikmin 4 will be launching this coming July!
The latest trailer for Pikmin 4 revealed a variety of new and interesting features, including Ice Pikmin that can freeze enemies, a fresh cast of playable characters, and an adorable dog buddy named “Oatchi.” We also get a peek at some intimidating new baddies, hints of a new day-night system, and perhaps the return of dungeons. You can check out the new Pikmin 4 trailer for yourself, below.
Looks like a fun expansion of the Pikmin concept, and come on, Oatchi pretty much sells the game himself. Need to know more? Here's some info courtesy of Nintendo...
"Meet Pikmin – the small, plant-like creatures you can grow, pluck, command and also overpower your enemies with during your grand mission on a strange planet! These curious helpers come in different types – fire is no sweat for Red Pikmin, and the new Ice Pikmin can freeze enemies and the environment. Use your Pikmin’s miniature might (and some strategic thinking) as you explore.
You get a Space Dog, too! Oatchi can help with things like smashing obstacles and carrying Pikmin throughout your adventure. With the miniscule Pikmin and a capable canine in tow, no challenge is too big or small! Please look four-ward to the Pikmin 4 game when it traverses to Nintendo Switch!"
Pikmin 4 arrives on Nintendo Switch on July 21, 2023. Pre-orders for the game are open now. What do you think? Does this look like a proper follow-up to the excellent Pikmin 3? Or could Nintendo have pushed the series harder?
