What we heard: Ever since it debuted in 2005, Capcom's Ace Attorney series has garnered a cult following on the DS. Though they wouldn't win the same critical praise as the first Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, subsequent installments Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Justice for All (Jan. 2007), Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trials and Tribulations (Oct. 2007), and Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney (2008) saw decent sales in both the West and Japan.
Phoenix Wright may soon have his day in court on the Wii.
The next installment in the voice- and point-and-click based courtroom adventure, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth, is due to arrive on the DS in February. However, there are now indications the franchises may be branching out onto a full-sized console. On October 29, the USK approved the Wii game "Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney" for players aged 14 and up--but offered no further information.
The official story: US Capcom reps invoked their right to not respond to requests for comment.
Bogus or not bogus?: Not bogus. Game-rating boards' bureaucratic processes often preempt publishers' carefully orchestrated announcements of new games. In the US, the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) unmasked Assassin's Creed II: Discovery, Guitar Hero: Modern Hits, Castlevania the Adventure ReBirth, and, most recently, a series of PSP pinball games based on hit Sony franchises like Uncharted.
