Oscar Isaac, who plays Spider-Man 2099 in the recently released Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has suggested his friend Pedro Pascal as a potential addition to the Marvel Spider-Verse franchise. Isaac expressed his idea during an interview with British GQ, where he discussed the animated Spider-Man film.
Isaac, when asked about his thoughts on new additions to the Spider-Verse franchise, responded with praise for the casting directors' ability to find the right actors for each character. However, he mentioned Pascal as a strong contender, envisioning him as a "cranky, old Spider-Person… Let's find something for him."
Interestingly, this is the second time in 2023 that Pascal has been recommended for a movie franchise. Previously, Jack Black, who voiced Bowser in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, told GameSpot that Pascal would be an ideal fit for the character of Wario.
Isaac and Pascal actors have gained significant recognition in the entertainment industry. Since the start of 2022, Isaac portrayed multiple characters in Marvel's Moon Knight series, while Pascal starred as Joel Miller in the HBO adaptation of the video game The Last of Us. Pascal's upcoming projects include a potential sequel to Gladiator, alongside Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Joseph Quinn, and Denzel Washington.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has garnered widespread acclaim since its recent release, and a sequel, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is already slated for a March 2024 release.
GameSpot's Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse review scored the movie an 8/10. Reviewer Phil Owen said, "Across the Spider-Verse is a visual feast unlike anything I've ever seen before in a movie theater. It's transcendent, really. Maybe, for this film, that's all that will end up mattering."
