The Last of Us actor Pedro Pascal has apparently signed on to star in Weapons, the next movie from Barbarian filmmaker Zach Cregger.
As shared by The Hollywood Reporter, production company New Line is attached to the project, with Cregger once again penning and directing the film. Barbarian's producing team, Roy Lee of Vertigo and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures, will also be producing Weapons alongside Cregger. And Vertigo's Miri Yoon is also joining as a producer.
Currently there aren't any plot details available for Weapons, nor is there any word on what Pascal's character will be like. A report from earlier this year described the project as an "interrelated, multistory horror epic," being compared to the 1999 Paul Thomas Anderson film Magnolia in terms of tone. The Hollywood Reporter also said that shooting is expected to start some time in the fall.
Cregger teased this project last year saying that "it's way more ambitious than Barbarian. It's way weirder… and I don't know if I'm gonna pull it off." The writer-director also shared that he's working on a script set in the DC Universe, describing it as a "Batman-adjacent thing," that he's "utterly obsessed with."
It was also recently reported that Pascal has joined the cast of Gladiator 2, where he joins up-and-comer Paul Mescal (Aftersun), Barry Keoughan (The Banshees of Inisherin), and Denzel Washington.
