Pedro Pascal Has Not Seen TLOU Finale
Pedro Pascal Has Not Seen TLOU Finale-October 2024
Oct 19, 2024 1:34 PM

Pedro Pascal, star of HBO's The Last of Us TV series, recently revealed a surprising detail--he hasn't seen the highly anticipated finale of the show. Adapted from the popular video game, the series features Pascal in the lead role of Joel, navigating a post-apocalyptic world alongside co-star Bella Ramsey. In a new interview with Steven Yuen for Variety, Pascal confessed that despite his emotional attachment to the series, he hasn't been able to watch how it all ends as a viewer.

"I saw it all up until then," Pascal said. "I haven't done anything for that amount of time before, and so my attachment to the experience is strange. As a guy who’s pushing 50, to feel this very innocent, semi-angry, emotional attachment to an experience that’s over … It continues, but there will never be another meeting Bella for the first time, working with Craig [Mazin], with the entire crew, with my friend Coco, who did my hair, and the whole family experience of it. I think it was like falling in love… it hurts too much."

To which, Yuen said, "You haven't seen it? You crushed it! It felt very lived in."

Their conversation also touched upon Pascal's initial unfamiliarity with the video game on which the series is based. Instead, he was captivated by the scripts written by Mazin, which drew him into the story. Yuen shared his personal connection to Pascal, recalling how he immersed himself in playing The Last of Us for 12 consecutive hours while filming The Walking Dead, a series he believes shares a spiritual connection with Pascal's show. Yuen commended Pascal's ability to fully embody his characters, describing him as gracious and selfless.

The actors also discussed their other projects, including Yuen's involvement in the Netflix series Beef, which explores a feud ignited by a road rage incident. Pascal expressed admiration for Yuen's performance and his portrayal of real love and danger within the ordinary aspects of life. They even shared recent road rage encounters in Los Angeles, reflecting on the humbling and guilt-inducing nature of such incidents.

Delving into their craft, Yuen emphasized the importance of staying true to one's character and tapping into the deep understanding of the role within oneself. Pascal acknowledged the loneliness and fear that can arise when attempting to connect with a character. They also explored the influence of external factors on their performances and the significance of relinquishing control.
