ATLANTA - Sony's media briefing on Wednesday also revealed that the company is planning a stateside and European release of the PlayStation PDA (code-name, not final) in the spring of 1999 for a price of under US$30. The PDA is part of Sony's plan to bring gaming to a much wider audience, including women and businesspeople, to create what they are calling a Personal Digital Community.
Some of the supposed applications will be a message extender, a community RPG, Tamagotchi-style digital pets, and a fantasy sports leagues. It will be released in Japan in the fourth quarter.
