Treyarch's Cold War-era shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops hits shelves for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS, and PC on Tuesday. The title pushed 5.6 million units in its first 24 hours and made publisher Activision $360 million in that time. It hasn't been a total pleasure cruise for Treyarch, though, as the PC version of the game has been troubled with issues since launch. Now, a fix for some of those glitches has arrived.
According to a post by Treyarch's community manager on CallofDuty.com, a fix is now live for those suffering from known issues in the game's multiplayer component. The fix went live recently and promises to reduce lag, improve server distribution, advance performance for dual and quad core systems, and fix friend match-joining issues.
Call of Duty: Getting Patched Up. Further, Treyarch said it has another fix inbound. The issues identified for this "in progress" patch are for headaches relating to "GPU hitches" and incomplete server browser results. Additionally, this forthcoming patch will offer improvements (better ping, less lag) to the game's quick-match feature. Treyarch did not announce when it plans to set the second patch live.
Black Ops' single-player campaign follows a group of US commandos undertaking various high-risk covert operations in various Cold War theaters, including Vietnam, Cuba, and Russia. The game features a star-studded voice-acting cast and a soundtrack composed by Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Sean Murray. It also sees the return of the much-loved zombie mode from Call of Duty: World at War.
