Patrick Stewart Was Unsure About Becoming Professor Xavier Again
Patrick Stewart Was Unsure About Becoming Professor Xavier Again-October 2024
Oct 18, 2024 10:17 PM

It may have been one of the worst kept secrets for Doctor Strange sequel, and with that latest TV spot, Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier was all but confirmed. Well, the legendary actor has finally discussed talking about one of his most synonymous roles and confirmed that is indeed him in the 90s' style hoverchair.

"It was very unlike the Porsche that I was driving in the [X-Men] films. That was a very fast, very manipulative wheelchair," the actor told Variety. "And when I first saw the monster that I was going to be driving in this one, I was dismayed. But it was fine. It worked very well."

Stewart portrayed Professor Charles Xavier seven times over 17 years as part of 20th Century Fox's X-Men movie franchise--and died three times along the way. The actor talked about returning to his iconic role like it was more of a black-ops mission. It took less than two days to film the cameo, but he had some trepidation going back to it.

"I was in a very different environment from the one that I had ever been in, in any of the X-Men movies. And just like Picard, I was grateful for it, because I could think refreshingly about who he was and how he related to others," Stewart said.

"I was a little unsure at first if it was a wise thing to do. Given that Logan had been such a powerful movie and we watched him die in Hugh Jackman's arms," he continued. "So having seen [Doctor Strange] on Monday night, I'm very happy and very proud that I've been part of that."

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness opens in theaters on May 6.
