The upcoming Path of Exile 2 has received a brand-new gameplay video, focusing on the bow-wielding Mercenary class.
As said, this video is about the new Mercenary class within the upcoming standalone sequel, and features shooter-like gameplay, swapping crossbows and ammo types on the fly to inflict combo attacks. The 12-minute-long video also shows a thrilling boss fight, and truth be told, we're pretty excited about this game. You can check out the new video that developer Grinding Gear Games released below:
As covered some months ago, Path of Exile 2 will be a full sequel with a closed beta planned to kick off in June 2024. During Gamescom 2023, the developer showed off a new Druid gameplay video, featuring some impressive visuals, synergy mechanics, and more. Here's what the studio wrote about the changes the team is making to the sequel compared to the original Path of Exile.
"Being a spellcaster with a bear form makes sense for Strength Int, but it really doesn't sound like something a Templar would do. We realized that since we had new mechanics for every attribute combination, it actually made sense to design new character classes to explore the new themes. In Path of Exile 2, every attribute combination has two classes associated with it. Strength/Int has the Templar or the Druid. On Dexterity, you have the Ranger and the spear-focused Huntress. And on Dex/Int, you have the Shadow and the Monk."
Path of Exile 2 has yet to receive a release date, but with the beta planned for summer next year, don't expect it to be released anytime soon. The game was officially announced back in 2020 for a release on PC and consoles in 2021, but as mentioned above, the development team later decided to make the title a full-blown sequel due to continued growth of the game's scope, new monsters, skills, mechanics, classes, and more.
