A Parks and Recreation podcast is on the way, with star Rob Lowe and producer and writer Alan Yang hosting. The announcement trailer quotes Lowe as saying the podcast, which is called Parks and Recollection, is "literally the definitive podcast about Parks and Recreation."
Yang, who also appeared on the show as the bassist for the fictional band Mouse Rat, said he's excited to be able to share behind-the-scenes stories about how the show was made.
"I was in the writer's room of Parks and Rec for every single season of the show, and there are so many great stories about the making of the series," Yang said. "It's time to share them with the world and revisit a little town called Pawnee, one episode at a time."
Lowe said he's eager to learn more from Yang about how the creators of the show came up with the ideas and storylines and the overall world. Lowe played Chris Traeger on the show, coming to the series in its third season. Traeger was a memorable, central character who, among many other things, spawned the "stop...pooping" meme.
In terms of guests, Parks and Recollection will bring on actors like Chris Pratt, Ben Schwartz, and Fred Armisen to talk about their roles on the show. In the teaser clip, Pratt talks about how, halfway through Season 1, the writers decided they liked Chris Pratt the actor more than Andy the character, so they changed him to be more like Pratt. Schwartz, who played Jean-Ralphio, spoke briefly about how he nearly missed out on playing the role that would go on to define his early acting career.
"Someone had emailed my agent being like, 'Hey, we have this role for Ben if he's interested.' And nobody ever told me," he said.
Parks and Recollection premieres September 14 everywhere podcasts are available.
