Publisher DreamCatcher Interactive announced a new limited edition of its popular PC title Painkiller. The new edition will be titled Painkiller: Gold Edition and will hit store shelves this March. The game and its expansion, Battle out of Hell, were both developed by People Can Fly, and were originally released last April and December, respectively.
The Gold Edition will include both the original Painkiller and Battle out of Hell, a "making-of" feature that includes developer interviews, a video from rock band Mech, the trailer for the Xbox version due to hit stores this year, modding tools, and undisclosed enhancements as part of its participation in the Cyberathlete Professional League.
In Painkiller, gamers have the monumental task of overthrowing Beelzebub himself. Armed with 14 different weapons, players will purge enemies of sins (and life) through 34 levels in the single-player campaign and 15 maps across seven modes in the multiplayer portion.
Painkiller: Gold Edition will get the darker moniker of Painkiller: Black Edition when it is released in the UK in March.
Painkiller and Painkiller: Battle out of Hell are rated "M" for Mature. Pricing details for Painkiller: Gold Edition have not been released. For more information on the Painkiller franchise, check out GameSpot's reviews of Painkiller and Painkiller: Battle out of Hell.
