Overwatch McCree And D.Va Might Get Some Tweaks, Highlights Saving Feature Might Also Be Coming-October 2024
Oct 28, 2024 2:25 PM

Overwatch has only been released last week, but the game has managed to become quite successful in a short amount of time thanks to its exciting gameplay experience. Nothing is ever perfect, though, and a member of the team has outlined on the game's official forums some balance changes that might be coming for two specific heroes in the near future.

Overwatch Principal Designer Geoff Goodman has recently revealed on the game's official forums that McCree and D.Va might be getting some balance changes in the future. Speaking about McCree, Geoff Goodman revealed that he's been looking at the hero recently, noting how he is a bit too good at dealing damage to high health targets.

I've been watching McCree carefully since we've released. McCree's flashbang plays an important role in being a strong option against very fast/agile teams (tracers/genjis/etc). It is also a nice tool to prevent close range devastating abilities and ultimates such as Reaper's Death Blossom.

That said, it's probably a bit too good at dealing damage to higher health targets such as Tanks and barriers. I don't have any concrete changes yet, but I'm going to be testing some things internally to see how he plays.

By saying 'its probably a bit too good at dealing damage to higher health targets' I mean his flash/fan combo, not the flash itself. Fan is more likely to see changes than flash at this point.

Speaking about D.Va, Geoff Goodman noted that there's some room for improvement, but it's unlikely that the team will increase her damage output, as the hero has been made like this for a specific reason.

D.Va's damage is definitely on the lower side, much like Winstons. They are this way for a similar reason: They are both very mobile and hard to kill. Every character in the game has strengths and weaknesses, its part of what makes the teamplay work well.

That said, I do think the is some room for some D.Va improvements, but these are unlikely to take the shape of increasing her damage output significantly.

Having been available for only one week, Overwatch lacks some features that players would definitely enjoy, such as the ability to save and export highlights. A few hours ago, it's been revealed by Game Director Jeff Kaplan that the team hopes to implement such features in the future.

The game will temporarily archive 5 highlights from your last play session. Playing only one game will only result in one highlight. Highlights are not currently saved if you close the game and come back. Our hope (and what we're working toward) is to allow players to save highlights or export them to a video format someday.

Overwatch is now available in all regions on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
