The Revenant and Mad Max: Fury Road amassed the most number of nominations for this year's Academy Awards. The former, a brutal survival thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, collected 12 nominations, while the acclaimed action sequel Fury Road--also starring Hardy--received 10 nods.
Both films were nominated for Best Picture, while DiCaprio received his fourth nomination for Best Actor. Fury Road's other nominations were predominately in the technical categories, including Cinematography, Sound Editing, and Visual Effects.
