Codemasters has announced that the North American version of its upcoming tactical combat game Operation Flashpoint is on track for release in early September. The European version is scheduled for release in mid-June, but Codemasters has decided to add new features to the North American version. The primary additions include multiplayer features such as dedicated server functionality and enhanced network code. A free upgrade for the European version of the game containing the improvements will be released in September as well.
Operation Flashpoint takes place in the Cold War-era Soviet Union, and players assume the role of NATO soldiers on a peacekeeping mission. Through the course of the game's different missions, players can control a variety of vehicles, including jeeps, helicopters, and more.
