Take-Two Interactive has announced that Oni, its upcoming PlayStation 2 action-adventure title, has gone through Sony's final approval process. The final code, packaging, and marketing materials have been approved, and the game is ready to begin final production. It will be released on January 29.

''As the PlayStation 2 continues to redefine home entertainment, Oni is poised to become a benchmark in next-generation gaming. The hectic mix of hand-to-hand combat and gunplay was not possible on previous console platforms. When you combine this with the simultaneous release of the versions for the PC and Macintosh platforms from the Gathering of Developers, I feel that Take-Two is launching a huge new gaming franchise."
