OGN announces SK Telecom LTE-A LoL Masters.-January 2024
Jan 6, 2025 10:12 PM

This article was originally published on GameSpot's sister site onGamers.com, which was dedicated to esports coverage.

Beginning 13th February 2014, OnGameNet, the South Korean cable television company which organizes the largest series of local League of Legends tournaments, will be hosting the SK Telecom LTE-A LoL Masters. Matches will be held every Thursday and Sunday. Though more concrete information will be released through official channels on February 7th, bits and pieces have been trickling out. According to OGN caster MonteCristo, the Masters is a team league "in the same mold as Proleague was for Broodwar and is for Starcraft 2."

The teams will compete under the same banner in two Bo3's per day, four per week on Thursdays and Sundays. Each sister team will have to play in one of the first two games, and if they split then it goes to an All-Star ace match where teams can combine rosters into a super team. Think CJ fielding Shy/DayDream/Ambition/Emperor/MadLife.

The example that Chexx from TL translated looks like this, to give you an idea:

CJ Blaze vs SKT KCJ Frost vs SKT SCJ Allstars vs SKT Allstars (Ace Match)I think this will help teams focus on developing two solid rosters and give organizations a goal for longevity since this new league will be very important to sponsors.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a one-off like Club Masters. LoL Masters will be a long-form league that will feature a regular season lasting months that will build into a playoff.
