Oddworld: Soulstorm’s Latest Trailer Includes a First Glimpse of In-Game Footage-October 2024
Oct 27, 2024 6:23 PM

A first peek at Oddworld: Soulstorm gameplay has finally been revealed. A follow-up to Oddworld New ‘n’ Tasty, Soulstorm was announced way back in 2016, and yet, details about the game have remained rather scarce. Well, the latest Soulstorm trailer actually shows the title in action, and, well, it looks like an Oddworld game! Not that I’m complaining – the Oddworld game are still some of the best and most unique puzzle platformers of all time. You can check the trailer out, below.

For those who haven’t been following the game, Oddworld: Soulstorm is not a straight remake, despite being a follow up to Oddworld New ‘n’ Tasty (a remake of Abe’s Oddysey). The creators of Oddworld originally wanted to tell a single cohesive story over five games, the Oddworld Quintology, but their vision was never realized. Soulstorm is the second chapter in the story the developers always wanted to tell, although it seems to also take notes from the original second game in the series, Abe's Exoddus. According to the trailer and new previews making the rounds, Soulstorm will also feature a new crafting element.

Here’s the official description for Oddworld: Soulstorm:

Oddworld: Soulstorm picks up from where New ‘n’ Tasty ended. Abe has defeated Mollusk the Glukkon, his former boss and RuptureFarms’ meanest inhabitant, overthrown RuptureFarms and liberated workmates. Now, Abe - along with 300 newly emancipated Mudokons – find themselves without food, water or a place to call home. Stranded alone in the desert, they find solace in a strange new brew - a delicious drink that has insidious ramifications for their newfound freedom. Oddworld: Soulstorm will continue to chew up the themes of environmentalism, capitalism, consumerism and addiction that critics and fans found so engaging in New ’n’ Tasty.

Oddworld: Soulstorm escapes onto PC and unspecified consoles in early 2020.
