Octopath Traveler Dev Not Working Only On Switch Titles, Constantly Asked About A Final Fantasy VI Remake-September 2024
Sep 22, 2024 12:56 AM

Octopath Traveler, the unique JRPG developed by Square Enix for Nintendo Switch, is finally releasing in less than 24 hours, but it seems like the team is hardly going to rest after developing the game, as there are multiple games in development by the team.

In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Octopath Traveler Producer Masashi Takashi revealed that, while the team, which has now become a special division within Square Enix following the success of Bravely Default, has worked on Octopath Traveler, it's not working only on Nintendo Switch titles.

Yes, we worked on Octopath Traveler and we're working on Switch titles, but that doesn't mean we're only working on Switch titles.

Masashi Takashi also spoke about the future of the Octopath Traveler development team, saying that he'll hardly go back to the Final Fantasy series. He also mentioned that he gets asked about a Final Fantasy VI remake quite often, but that won't be happening as his role is to create new ideas.

To tell the truth I've no intention and no wish to go back to the Final Fantasy franchise. After my studio became a division, and Square told us to make new IPs. There's no need and no intention to go back to Final Fantasy. A lot of people ask us to do a remake of Final Fantasy 6 with this kind of graphics. My role, though, is to make new ideas.

Octopath Traveler launches tomorrow, July 13th, on Nintendo Switch.
