343 Industries’ Halo Franchise Development Director, Frank O’Connor, has revealed some additional details about the upcoming Halo 5 and Halo MCC Xbox One X updates.

　　O’Connor, who goes by the name of ‘Stinkles’ on the NEOGAF forums, replied to some comments about the upcoming Halo updates for Microsoft’s enhanced Xbox One console.

　　Last month, the Halo Franchise Development Director already revealed that the Halo 5 Guardians will benefit from higher quality textures and assets on the Xbox One X, and O’Connor has now clarified that this texture and asset upgrade will be “very much like” the improved texture quality as seen in Halo 5 Forge on PC. While he says that people should keep their expectations in check, he believes that Halo 5’s campaign on the Xbox One X looks better than Halo 5 Forge on his 4K display.

　　“It is very much like Forge so keep your expectations in check however I think Forge looks amazing on my 4k TV and the campaign stuff on Scorpio looks better Imo”, he said.

　　In a follow-up post, O’Connor clarified that he was specifically talking about increased texture resolution instead of the overall IQ, aliasing, framerate, etc.

　　“I'm specifically talking about the increased texture resolution, not the overall IQ, frame rate, draw distance, aliasing etc.”, he added.

　　O’Connor also shared an interesting tidbit about the upcoming Halo: The Master Chief Collection updates that were announced yesterday.

　　It was rumored that the fixes and improvements for the Halo compilation would be handled by an external team, but this isn’t the case according to the development director. “That certainly contributed to some issues but this update will be handled by us and a single dedicated team”, he said. “Not multiple partners.”

　　The Halo 5 Guardians Xbox One X update will be released alongside the console’s launch on November 7, while the Halo MCC updates will release somewhere in 2018.
