Obi-Wan TV Series Director Says "Never Say Never" About Another Season
Obi-Wan TV Series Director Says "Never Say Never" About Another Season-November 2024
Nov 16, 2024 8:52 PM

The Star Wars TV series Obi-Wan Kenobi got solid reviews and people seemed to like seeing Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen return, but the series was conceived as a standalone limited show and there are no plans for additional episodes. That's according to director Deborah Chow, who told Deadline that while the book is closed for now, she believes there is a possibility for more storytelling.

"This was conceived as a limited series; it is closed," Chow told Deadline. "There's 10 more years before New Hope, so never say never."

Obi-Wan Kenobi takes place years after Revenge of the Sith and features McGregor returning as Obi-Wan and a young Princess Leia played by Vivien Lyra Blair. As mentioned, Christensen returns as Darth Vader and has some memorable showdowns with Obi-Wan.

As Chow said, the TV show ends 10 years prior to the events of the very first Star Wars movie, A New Hope. There is no doubt that there are some storytelling gaps that a new season of Obi-Wan--or a different project entirely--could dig into.

Upcoming Star Wars TV shows and movies include Ahsoka (August 2023) and Andor Season 2 (2024), as well as new Star Wars films from James Mangold, Dave Filoni, and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the latter of which brings back Daisy Ridley as Rey.
