Norm Spencer, The Cyclops Voice Actor Has Passed Away-October 2024

  The man known for voicing the iconic phrase "Optic Blast" in the X-Men fighting games, Norm Spencer, has sadly passed away. The news was revealed by Cal Dodd, who worked with Spencer on various projects throughout the '90s. Dodd is known for voicing Canada's premiere superhero Wolverine.

  Lost my dear friend and cohort Norm Spencer. WHat a sad day. Norm was the voice of Cyclops on X-Men the animated series.He was a genuine Character and sweetheart. I will miss her you Cyc. sorry about the “convertible ” Bub. see ya later my friend.

  Spencer's shout of "Optic blast" was Cyclops' calling card in X-Men: Children of the Atom, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2. In addition, Spencer voiced Cyclops for 68 episodes X-Men: The Animated Series and two episodes on Spider-Man: The Animated Series. His career of being the mouth of Cyclops throughout various video games and TV shows lasted from 1992-2000. He also appeared in 1998's Silver Surfer animated show as Drax the Destroyer for three episodes.
