An official synopsis for No Time To Die has also been released. It reads: "In No Time To Die, Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology."
The movie is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, who is best known for the first season of True Detective and last year’s acclaimed Netflix show Maniac. Jeffrey Wright reprises his role as Felix Leiter, while Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, and Léa Seydoux, all return to the roles of M, Q, Miss MoneyPenny, and Madeleine Swan respectively. The new cast members include Rami Malek in a villainous role, plus Billy Magnussen and Ana de Armas. Check out some on-set footage here.
No Time To Die is co-written by writer/actor Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Killing Eve, Rouge One). Waller-Bridge was reportedly paid $2 million USD to rework the existing script and contribute "sharper dialogue." In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Waller-Bridge downplayed her contribution. "A lot has been made of me coming on board because I'm a woman, and that's wonderful. But also I can't take credit for the movie that was written. It's Cary's movie," she said.
