Well, here's yet another rumor to start winding the rumormill. A new job listing by Nixxes has recently given out the expectation of a new port for PC of one of Sony's properties. Currently, the evidence points to its next PC port: The recently released Ratchet & Clank game Rift Apart. However, there is no substantial evidence to make a more secured claim so, it's important to take this with a grain of salt.
The job listing was posted 6 days ago, and it states that Nixxes is looking for a highly collaborative, passionate, and skilled UX/UI Engineer to help implement and improve the UI experience for upcoming AAA PC titles. One of the key elements behind this job listing is found in the "Plusses" section which expects users to have experience in using Coherent middleware.
You might be wondering, what PlayStation games (since Nixxes works as a PlayStation subsidiary) could be using the Coherent middleware/UI? Well, there aren't any except for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. That's the reason behind this game having the status of being the next PC port for the company to work on. Other games that use the Coherent UI are Microsoft Flight Simulator, Crackdown 3, and Nex Machina.
The job listing also looks for other skills, such as knowledge of C++, the ability to implement or extend game systems on PC to improve the UI experience, and a good understanding of code performance and complexity. According to the Nixxes listing, the worker will have to fulfill a full-time role in which they will work closely with other team members to protect the quality of the project and help out other engineers where needed.
This isn't the first time Nixxes has worked on a game made by Insomniac, either. Take into consideration that Nixxes was the company responsible for the ports of Marvel's Spider-Man and its Miles Morales expansion. Both of these have received positive critical reception and added several new features to improve the experience on PC with support for next-generation improvements such as Ray Tracing.
As always, we consider this to be a rumor and encourage our readers to take this with a grain of salt for the moment until an official announcement is made. In the meantime, stay tuned for developments on this and other stories. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is currently available exclusively on PlayStation 5.
