A couple of days ago reports that Development Kits for Nintendo's new platform, the "NX" were being shipped out to developers, started surfacing, and Takashi Mochizuki posted an article on the Wall Street Journal, which also stated that the console will feature "Industry Leading Chips". The new platform supposedly includes a console and at least one additional portable device, which is assumingly a handheld, with perchance an additional unit which could be a unique controller design, a VR device or something completely different.
Hello David,
The quick answer is "I don't know." Sorry!
-Several people who said who have seen a demo said what they saw is impossible to run on a computer without a "industry-leading" or "cutting-edge" chips. Cutting-edge in what way, they refused to elaborate.
-And an important thing to remember, probably you know well already, is that chip specs won't be finalized until much closer date to the release.
hope this helps, and plz ask me follow-up questions if you have.
thanks,
mochi
The NX is rumored to be launching in 2016, so we can assume that Nintendo is working with AMD, as was previously hinted, to create a custom CPU/GPU combo that can rival cutting edge hardware. It certainly is exciting to see how it turns out, as a Nintendo console or unified platform with that much raw processing power would truly be something magnificent.
The NX will likely be revealed at E3 2016, with a potential release for Holiday 2016, at least in some regions. We will bring you any new information on Nintendo's NX as soon as it becomes available.
