Nintendo NX “Will Recapture A Lot Of The Lapsed Wii Players” According To Ubisoft-November 2024
Nov 2, 2024 11:28 AM

Publisher Ubisoft strongly believes that Nintendo's upcoming console, the Nintendo NX, will bring back a lot of inactive Wii players.

When the Wii was released back in 2006, it became a huge success, and Nintendo managed to grab to attention of those who previously hadn't touched a game controller. The console sold over 100 million units, becoming one of the best selling home consoles ever.

This can't be said about its successor, the Wii U, which has been struggling since it was released in 2012. With the NX, Nintendo is hoping to make a strong comeback, and French publisher Ubisoft, seems to be confident that Nintendo can do so.

Just Dance 2017 heading to Nintendo NX

During its E3 conference, Ubisoft already announced that the upcoming Just Dance 2017 would also be released for Nintendo's upcoming console – something that was pointed out very clearly. Through the announcement, Ubisoft confirmed their third-party support for the NX. Website MCV talked to Ubisoft's EMEA executive director, Alain Corre, at the publisher's booth, and Corre strongly believes in the success of the Nintendo NX.

“We have always appreciated the relationship with Nintendo, the co-creation and the fact that they are really concentrating on quality - they have fantastic brands,” Corre told MCV.

“And they are addressing the family market in a very different way, their own way, which we appreciate. We have done a lot of products and successes with Nintendo in the past, and we believe that the NX will recapture a lot the lapsed Wii players. So we will see when they release it, but we are confident.”

With Ubisoft confident about the Nintendo NX, let's hope that they will bring their AAA titles to Nintendo's console as well.

A final release date for the Nintendo NX hasn't been set, but Nintendo hopes to release to console in March 2017.
