According to Reuters, Nintendo has announced that it has lowered its royalty fees for third-party GameCube developers in order to encourage more support for the system. Nintendo cites games like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and other major third-party projects as the reason to go ahead with the cuts.
"The biggest games of the year last year were games like GTA, and they came from an independent publisher," George Harrison, senior vice president of marketing at Nintendo of America, told the news service. "We need to make sure that we have good relationships with all the independent publishers, because you never know where the next big hit game is going to come from."
We'll post more information as it becomes available.
