When the plus-sized DSi XL was announced, many gamers expected the price for the modified Nintendo handheld to be commensurate with its larger bulk. But Aussies were in for a surprise: Nintendo Australia originally priced the DSi XL at the same cost as the smaller DSi--A$299.95. On the eve of the DSi XL's release Down Under, however, Nintendo has dropped the price of the DSi, with the handheld now costing A$249.95.

　　The DSi XL will be released around the country tomorrow and comes with five preinstalled applications, including Clubhouse Games: Express Card Classic, A Little Bit of…, Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: Arts Edition, Photo Clock, and Flipnote Studio. The Nintendo DSi XL features larger screens than its regular DSi cousin, coming in at 4.2 inches, and will be launching in burgundy and bronze, skipping the traditional black and white that the other models offer.
