Nintendo confirms a new Pokémon game, discusses Metroid GBA-October 2024
Oct 27, 2024 2:30 AM

During a speech today in Japan, Satoru Iwata, general manager of Nintendo Company Limited, briefly discussed several upcoming games for the Game Boy Advance. Iwata spoke about Nintendo's intentions to create Game Boy Advance versions of classic first-party games such as Metroid, Yoshi's Island, and Yoshi's Story. He also mentioned Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World as strong candidates for translation to the GBA. Naturally, Game Boy Advance versions of these games were not confirmed directly, but it does show that Nintendo is actively pursuing remakes of such games.

Following Iwata's speech, Tsunekazu Ishihara, general producer of Nintendo's Pokémon games, confirmed that Nintendo is currently working on at least one new Pokémon game for the Game Boy Advance. He said that the new game is tentatively titled Pokémon Advance and will be set in an entirely new world in the Pokémon universe. Additionally, he introduced two new Pokémon and a new trainer. As reported previously, the new Game Boy Advance Pokémon game will not be released until 2002.
