Nintendo: 6 million DSs sold in US
Nintendo: 6 million DSs sold in US-January 2024
Jan 14, 2025 6:40 AM

Although all three hardware manufacturers had a solid performance during the first official shopping day of the holiday season, Nintendo scored the biggest win with more than 1 million total handheld and console units sold for the week of Black Friday. The hardware maker claims it sold 350,000 Wiis and 653,000 DSs during the period, with the latter trumping Nintendo's previous one-week sales record of 600,000 Game Boy Advances sold during the same week in 2005.

Touting those numbers, Nintendo today proclaimed the Nintendo DS as the number-one-selling gaming device in 2007. With December sales still unavailable, the console maker says that it has sold more than 6 million units of its popular portable in the US alone through November 30.

The industry-tracking NPD group is expected to deliver its official sales statistics for November within the coming weeks. According to previous monthly figures released by NPD, Nintendo has sold more than 5 million DSs through October, which would put DS sales at more than 1 million for the month of November.
