GameSpot has learned that Fox Interactive plans to develop licensed next-generation games based on the TV show Cops. The first game that will be developed using the Cops license will be released for multiple next-generation consoles, including the Sony PlayStation 2 and likely the Sega Dreamcast. Unlike Fox Interactive's other TV show-based game, World's Scariest Police Chases, the Cops game will not be in the driving or racing genres. There are very few specific details available at this time, but the game will focus more on elements such as tracking down criminals on foot and SWAT-team tactics. When contacted for comment, a Fox representative told GameSpot that the company has "no information on a Cops TV show-based game at this time."
