The wireless Web-surfing ability of the PlayStation Portable is one of its biggest selling points. This week, the handheld's Internet search function will be simplified, courtesy of the addition to its XrossMediaBar (XMB) that will eliminate a step.
This morning, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) announced that it will release the newest PSP firmware update in the US and Canada this week. The upgrade, version 4.0, will embed a link to the Google search engine directly into the XMB under an all-new "Internet Search" icon. The new option, which will have an 20-entry input history, will offer the same results pages had a user searched via Google in the PSP's Web browser.
