New Version of Titanfall in the Works for Asia
New Version of Titanfall in the Works for Asia-September 2024
Sep 21, 2024 10:00 AM

Titanfall 2 isn't the only new Titanfall game in development.

Free-to-play gaming giant Nexon on Wednesday announced that its subsidiary Nexon Korea has reached a deal with Electronic Arts for a "PC online version" of Titanfall. The game will launch only in Asia.

Nexon will work with Titanfall developer Respawn and EA for the new version. We don't know yet how it will differ from the existing game, but it's likely to be free-to-play, according to Nexon.

"We look forward to working with the talented teams at Respawn and EA and leveraging Nexon's free-to-play expertise to deliver a new and engaging online game based on Titanfall to the Asian market," Nexon CEO Owen Mahoney said in a statement.

Nexon and EA have worked together before. The two companies previously collaborated on EA Sports FIFA Online 3, which Nexon says in the No. 1 online sports game right now in Korea.

Titanfall originally launched in March 2014 only for Xbox platforms and PC. Its developer, Respawn, is staffed by numerous former Call of Duty developers. The company itself was founded by Infinity Ward founders Vince Zampella and Jason West.

The game's sequel, Titanfall 2, won't launch anytime soon. EA previously confirmed that the game, which is expected to see a multiplatform release, will arrive in 2016 at the earliest.
