New The Matrix Resurrections Trailer Suggests A Brewing War-November 2024
Nov 19, 2024 1:45 PM

Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new trailer for The Matrix Resurrections, which will be in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22.

This being The Matrix, half the fun of watching a new clip is poring over the footage and deciding for yourself what is really going on or what it might all suggest. Rest assured, the new trailer is awesome, showcases some incredible stunts in an apparent war breaking out, and some borderline disturbing imagery. Check it out below.

According to an official synopsis, The Matrix Resurrections will be a "return to a world of two realities: one, everyday life; the other, what lies behind it. To find out if his reality is a physical or mental construct, to truly know himself, Mr. Anderson will have to choose to follow the white rabbit once more… Neo already knows what he has to do. But what he doesn’t yet know is the Matrix is stronger, more secure, and more dangerous than ever before. Déjà vu."

That synopsis and, indeed, the clip above also reference a comment Carrie-Ann Moss' Trinity says in a previous clip: "Déjà vu is usually a glitch in the Matrix." It would seem, in many ways we cannot begin to fully comprehend or appreciate, that the highly-anticipated sequel will recast or reframe many crucial moments from the original trilogy.

In addition to Reeves and Moss, the sequel will welcome franchise newcomers such as Priyanka Chopra (Baywatch), Jonathan Groff (Hamilton), Jessica Henwick (Love and Monsters), Danial Bernhardt (John Wick), and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen).
