New Splinter Cell Game In Production, And It's Not A Spin-Off - Report-March 2024
Mar 16, 2025 3:06 AM

Ubisoft is working on a new Splinter Cell game, according to a report from Tom Henderson at VGC. The game is said to be in the "early phase of production," and that there is a "small chance" it will be announced in 2022.

The report had no insight on which studios are working on the new Splinter Cell game. However, sources said the game may be developed by a studio outside of Montreal.

Now Playing: What The Hell Happened To Splinter Cell

According to the report, Ubisoft is greenlighting the game in part as a means of "winning back" fans who didn't embrace Splinter Cell's mobile and VR spin-offs.

If it's real, this would be the first new Splinter Cell game since 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist, which was developed by Ubisoft Toronto and released on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC. The report shed no light on what type of game the new Splinter Cell might be, though it was described as being a "mainline" entry as opposed to some type of spin-off.

Ubisoft declined to comment when approached by VGC.

The original Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell was released in 2002, so if the new game is real and it's announced next year, that would be a fitting way to celebrate the franchise's 20th anniversary.

In 2020, Ubisoft announced the revival of the Splinter Cell series as a VR game for Oculus Quest 2, but that was not what some core fans might have wanted. A Splinter Cell anime from Netflix is also in the works, and it's written by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad. A live-action Splinter Cell movie starring Tom Hardy is also on the way, but it appears to be in development hell.
