New Saints Row Still In Development At Volition
New Saints Row Still In Development At Volition-October 2024
Oct 26, 2024 4:37 PM

We've known for some months that a new Saints Row--presumably Saints Row 5--will be announced this year, but the announcement of a Saints Row 3 remaster left some fans wondering if that was all the hype was about. Not so, says Deep Silver, which clarified that a proper and new Saints Row entry is still in the works.

In response to a fan expressing some disappointment about the remaster, the official Saints Row Twitter account explained that Volition is at work on a new Saints Row game, while the Saints Row 3 remaster is coming from another studio, Sperasoft. That suggests that plans to unveil the new Volition game are still on. Volition has developed all of the Saints Row games.

Now Playing: Saints Row: The Third Remastered - Official Reveal Trailer

It's unknown where the next Saints Row game would go. Saints Row 4 closed the book on the series in signature wild fashion, followed only by the DLC Gat Out of Hell. For a franchise known for one-upping itself it remains to be seen how it tops that. It received something of a side-reboot with Agents of Mayhem, which was set in the same universe, but that game got a less-than-stellar reception.

A new Saints Row game is in development from @dsvolition. The Saints Row: The Third remaster is being done by Sperasoft.

Meanwhile, Saints Row 4: Reelected was recently ported to Nintendo Switch.

"Even if combat sometimes falls into a rut, there are more than enough surprises in the game's story missions to keep you entertained, and as in previous games, you can increase the mayhem by inviting a friend along to do missions and other activities," Carolyn Petit wrote in GameSpot's Saints Row 4 review. "Saints Row IV owes a lot to games like Crackdown and Prototype, but the absurd humor that infuses every aspect of this game gives it an identity all its own. The simulated city of Steelport doesn't offer deep gameplay or the most satisfying challenge, but it is a great place to mess around."
