A new video reel showing off upcoming games created within the PlayStation China Hero Project program has been shared today by Gematsu.
The reel was aired at the recent Unreal Fest Shanghai 2023, which took place between November 30 (Thursday) and December 1 (Friday) at the Shangri-La Hotel Qiantan in Shanghai. Needless to say, all of these games have been made with Unreal Engine 4 or 5.
The PlayStation China Hero Project is an incubation program started by Sony Interactive Entertainment for local independent developers. Games featured in this fresh trailer include F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch (which launched over two years ago) and several games that we've previously covered on Wccftech, such as RAN: Lost Islands.
This game by Jolly Roger was originally marketed as a pirate-themed Battle Royale, and we even ran a beta giveaway for it. However, the Twitter page now describes it as a 'Medieval Melee Combat Survival Game'. Either way, neither the Twitter page nor the Steam page have been updated in a very long time, so it's nice to see the game still being developed.
Convallaria is another game we first heard of four years ago when it was confirmed to feature NVIDIA ray tracing technology. It's a third-person online multiplayer action shooter game in development at Loong Force. Last year, Sony confirmed it would publish the game globally on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, while the fate of the PC version is currently unknown.
The most high-profile game produced so far by the PlayStation China Hero Project program is easily Lost Soul Aside. Originally a one-man project developed by Bing Yang, Lost Soul Aside has been in the works for over five years, impressing gamers with its stylish Devil May Cry-inspired combat and gorgeous visuals. PC players can be assured they'll get to play this one, which will feature ray traced visuals and NVIDIA DLSS 3 support.
The PlayStation China Hero Project reel also includes other interesting games, such as the stealth action game Evotinction, the third-person shooter/hack and slash game Exiledge, the action RPG Daba: Land of Water Scar (from Darkstar, the studio behind SINNER: Sacrifice for Redemption), the open world action RPG The God Slayer (from Pathea Games, the developer behind My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock), and action RPG The Winds Rising (from TiGames, the team behind the aforementioned F.I.S.T.: Forged in Shadow Torch).
