June is almost here, which means a whole new slate of shows and movies to watch on Disney+. Some of the content is available starting on June 1, while other shows and movies will be available a little later next month.
First up, on June 8, Ms. Marvel finally gets underway with weekly roll-outs of new episodes. In the newest MCU series to debut since the recently completed Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel follows a young girl named Kamala Khan as she gets superpowers. A Muslim-American teenager living in Jersey City, Khan is a fangirl of superheroes--primarily Captain Marvel. Earlier this month, Ms. Marvel co-creator and co-executive producer Sana Amanat discussed the many opportunities and also challenges in adapting the comics to TV. She also highlighted the upcoming show's emphasis on representation.
Later, on June 22, Obi-Wan Kenobi wraps up with its finale. As of this writing, of course, the show hasn't started yet--it begins May 27, with the first two episodes--but a synopsis in part reads as follows: "Obi-Wan Kenobi begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader."
