The new Nintendo Switch model with upgraded battery has already arrived at Australia's largest home entertainment retailer.
Nintendo’s new Switch model HAC-001(-01) has reportedly arrived at various JB Hi-Fi stores across Australia. While the new models aren’t actively being marketed yet, those looking to purchase the new model can ask for the new model, which comes in a brand-new box for roughly $300 USD ($449 AUD).
The new Switch model was announced last month and should boost battery life by roughly 83% compared to the battery in the current Switch model. According to Nintendo, the new battery can last up to 9 hours on a single charge. Nintendo proclaims that the battery in the ‘New’ Switch model will last approximately 5.5 hours for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – the current battery will only last roughly 3 hours while playing Breath of the Wild in portable mode.
Whether this ‘new’ version will also pack small performance improvements due to the possibility of the GPU being clocked higher remains to be seen, but we’ll keep you updated.
The Nintendo Switch is available globally now. Nintendo launched its hybrid platform back in March of 2017.
