New Ninja Turtles Movie In The Works With Seth Rogen
New Ninja Turtles Movie In The Works With Seth Rogen-November 2024
Nov 15, 2024 1:10 AM

They're lean, green, and heading back to the big screen. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are getting another movie--the seventh for the franchise. The new film will be animated, much like 2007's TMNT, and has some interesting names attached.

The news comes from The Wrap, which notes Seth Rogen's production company, Point Grey Pictures, is teaming with Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures for the new take on the franchise. The film will be produced by Rogen, Evan Goldberg, and James Weaver. Jeff Rowe, best known for writing animated shows like Gravity Falls and Netflix's Disenchantment, will direct. The script is coming from Brendan O'Brien, who previously wrote the Neighbors movies starring Rogen, as well as The House and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates.

Now Playing: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: 30 Easter Eggs & References From The First Movie

In a statement, Brian Robbins, President of Kids & Family for ViacomCBS (GameSpot's parent company) said, "Adding Seth, Evan and James' genius to the humor and action that's already an integral part of TMNT is going to make this a next-level reinvention of the property. I'm looking forward to see what they do, and I know that Ramsey Naito and her team are excited to take the Nick Animation Studio into another great direction with their first-ever CG-animated theatrical."

At this point, no story, casting, or release date details have been revealed. Given that 2020 is the 30th anniversary of the first movie--as well as the 30th anniversary of the Coming Out of Their Shells tour--though, the timing couldn't be any better to bring the four walking, talking mutated turtles and, presumably, their arch-nemesis Shredder back to the big screen.

Of course, there's also the current Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series airing on Nickelodeon. What's more, it was previously revealed that Nick and Netflix are working together to produce an original movie based on that series.

Even 30 years later--or 36 years since the first issue of the comic book--there's no slowing down the Ninja Turtles.
