New Manga Subscription Service Offers 2-Month Free Trial, Ad-Free Reading-November 2024
Nov 1, 2024 8:31 PM

As we continue to practice social distancing, getting our books, comics, and manga through digital services like Comixology Unlimited and Kindle Unlimited is a welcome convenience. Both of those services are currently offering two-month free trials, granting access to a large library of books and comics. Now a brand-new service dedicated to manga has arrived on iOS devices with a free two-month trial as well. Mangamo launched today on iOS and features a growing library of ad-free manga to enjoy on your mobile devices.

Created by a team that has worked on anime streaming services such as Crunchyroll and Viz, Mangamo can be downloaded through the App Store for iPhone and iPad. So far, the service has secured partnerships with 11 publishers including Kodansha, Toppan, and Comicsmart. The gradual rollout will see more than 300 titles and 1,000 volumes added within three months, with new chapters for existing titles added to the service daily.

Now Playing: 8 Must-See Anime To Watch For Spring 2020

Some of the titles featured on Mangamo include Attack on Titan, Arte, Fire Force, Dropkick on My Devil, and Akatsuki Babies. The latter two were previously unavailable in English, which seems to be one of the focuses of the service.

I took Mangamo for a spin over the weekend in beta and found that while it occasionally slowed down when loading new titles, it generally works really well. The layout is clean and simple to navigate, and the text and illustrations are crisp.

Mangamo has a clean, ad-free layoutAfter the two-month free trial ends, Mangamo costs $5 per month, a reasonable price for access to hundreds of manga titles. For reference, Kindle Unlimited costs $10 per month and Comixology Unlimited costs $6 per month. The former focuses more on novels and non-fiction, while the latter hones in on regular comics, but each offers manga as well. Considering you can check out all three right now for two months, it's definitely worth seeing which service is right for you.

If reading new manga compels you to find some new anime to watch, make sure to check out our best anime streaming services guide.
