New King Kong Movie Will Show Biggest Kong in Film History, Director Says-November 2024

The colossal ape depicted in the upcoming Kong: Skull Island will be the largest one in cinematic history. That's according to director Jordon Vogt-Roberts, who shared a little more about the film at a Warner Bros. preview event in Europe this week.

"This is going to be the biggest Kong there's ever been," he said, according to The Hollywood Reporter (via IGN). "Not 10 foot or 30 foot, but a 100-foot ape."

An extended preview of the film was broadcast during the event at CineEurope. It contained sequences that showed off stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, and John C. Reilly.

In 2015, it was announced that Kong: Skull Island would form part of an ongoing monster movie series. Following the success of 2014's Godzilla, producers Legendary have teamed up with Warner Bros to create a "shared cinematic franchise", that would also include Godzilla 2 in 2018 and Godzilla Vs Kong in 2020.

Kong: Skull Island is set for a March 2017 release, and shoots in Hawaii (where some set footage leaked), Vietnam, and Australia. It focuses upon a group of explorers who embark for adventures on a mysterious tropical isle.
