While Fox's Gotham has introduced a plethora of heroes and villains from the DC comic book series, the one major character that has yet to pop up is The Joker. Fox has revealed some pictures for an upcoming episode that show off actress Lori Petty in some very Joker-like makeup.

　　According to the official synopsis for the episode, titled "This Ball of Mud and Meanness," there's no mention of Petty's role, shown in the images, as the episode will revolve around Bruce Wayne searching for Matches Malone and Hugo Strange running some tests on Penguin. More than likely, Petty's role has nothing to do with being the Joker and more with inspiring the person who eventually becomes that character. Petty is probably a "pit stop" in someone else's story during the episode.

　　Throughout the series, there have been many characters that seem to inspire the "clown prince of crime," including Jerome, the sociopathic murderer with a haunting laugh. The Joker is more of an idea or concept sneaking its way into the impressional brains in the city, creating chaos.

　　This episode of Gotham will air on Monday, March 14 at 8 PM on Fox.
