Warner Bros. Pictures has released a new trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. The next Fantastic Beasts installment will hit theaters on April 15, 2022.
An official synopsis for the film is as follows: "Professor Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) knows the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Mads Mikkelsen) is moving to seize control of the wizarding world. Unable to stop him alone, he entrusts Magizoologist Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) to lead an intrepid team of wizards, witches and one brave Muggle baker on a dangerous mission, where they encounter old and new beasts and clash with Grindelwald's growing legion of followers. But with the stakes so high, how long can Dumbledore remain on the sidelines?"
In the new trailer above, the story's context in the 1930s and the wizarding world's involvement in World War II is given a bit more emphasis than the trailer released back in December. That clip also gave fans a first look at Mikkelsen taking over the Grindelwald role that previously was Johnny Depp's. Mikkelsen appears again here, but isn't a major focus of the trailer.
A "retrospective special" commemorating the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter debuted on HBO Max back in January.
Elsewhere in the Harry Potter franchise, the Hogwarts Legacy game was recently reconfirmed as still coming out sometime this year, despite rumors suggesting a delay landing it in 2023.
