Oct 17, 2024 12:24 AM

The Deus Ex Pre-E3 Showcase brought a fair amount of news to fans of all kinds. We've reported on the mobile game Deus Ex GO, but the main dish is of course Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

The biggest news announced by Eidos Montreal is in the introduction of a new mode called Breach. This mode is described as a connected puzzle shooter experience. David Anfossi, Head of Studio, said:

We are introducing a brand new game mode to Deus Ex. In addition to being a new visual approach for the players, the Breach mode broadens the lore of the Deus Ex universe. Breach also reinforces Deus Ex: Mankind Divided’s gameplay experience with a totally different setting.

As a Ripper, your objective in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Breach is to obtain and sell highly classified corporate data by infiltrating some of the world’s most secure servers, using the funds you acquire to upgrade both your skills and arsenal. As you play, the rewards you earn, including XP, credits, and booster packs, will allow you to face the increasing difficulty of the game. You can also challenge yourself, your friends, and people from around the world; Deus Ex: Mankind Divided – Breach is a live game mode, with the developers promising to introduce new challenges and features by rolling out updates on a regular basis.

But of course, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided itself was then showcased in a brand new gameplay demo almost eighteen minutes long. For the first time, we were able to take a look at the hub city of Prague and how Adam Jensen can tackle various solutions to its problems via the new gameplay options.

In this section of the game, set in the poor district of the city, Adam Jensen wakes up after being caught in a devastating attack, allegedly perpetrated by augmented extremists, which is causing his augs to malfunction. He needs to see Vaclav Koller, an underground augmentation specialist, so that he can have a look at them and help him get back into shape.

As usual for Deus Ex, the developers remarked that it will be possible to talk with any character in the game to learn a bit about their story. One thing they noted is that the hacking mini-game is now tougher than in Human Revolution, requiring more player skill to be completed.
